Webidoo Secures $25M to Deploy Agentic AI for Small Business Operations

Webidoo, an Italian-American AI firm targeting small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), has raised $25 million in a funding round led by the IXC3 fund, managed by Azimut Libera Impresa SGR. The capital will fuel the development of what the company calls an 'AI operating layer' for SMBs, integrating agentic AI into everyday business workflows and supporting U.S. expansion through targeted acquisitions.

'Small businesses have been underserved by enterprise AI solutions that are too complex or expensive,' said Webidoo CEO Marco De Rossi. 'Our funding allows us to build a lightweight, autonomous layer that handles scheduling, customer outreach, and inventory management without requiring technical expertise.'

Breaking News: Webidoo's $25M Boost

The Milan- and Chicago-based startup closed the round with participation from existing backers, bringing total funding to over $40 million. The company plans to scale its agentic AI platform—which autonomously executes tasks like appointment booking, lead follow-ups, and document processing—across thousands of SMBs by mid-2025.

Agentic AI differs from traditional automation by making decisions and taking actions independently, adapting to changing business conditions in real time. Webidoo’s system is designed to integrate with existing tools like QuickBooks, Shopify, and Microsoft 365.

'Webidoo is betting that SMBs will embrace AI not as a dashboard but as a silent partner,' said Rachel Kim, an AI analyst at TechVision Research. 'The $25 million validates a growing demand for zero-configuration AI that can run a business while owners focus on strategy.'

Background

Founded in 2019 in Milan, Webidoo originally created a conversational commerce platform for e-commerce SMBs. In 2022, it expanded to Chicago to tap into the U.S. market, where the company now generates over half its revenue. The IXC3 fund, part of Azimut Libera Impresa—a venture capital arm of Italian asset manager Azimut—specializes in digital transformation for small businesses.

The $25 million round is the largest for Webidoo to date. It follows a $10 million Series A in 2021. The company intends to use the funds for hiring AI engineers in both Italy and the U.S., and to acquire smaller AI startups that offer complementary capabilities in natural language processing or workflow automation.

Webidoo’s current customer base includes more than 5,000 SMBs across retail, hospitality, and professional services. The platform typically costs between $50 and $200 per month, depending on the number of agents deployed.

What This Means

The investment signals a shift in enterprise AI funding toward purpose-built solutions for the mass market. While large corporations have access to tools like Microsoft Copilot and Salesforce Einstein, most SMBs lack the budget and IT staff to implement them. Webidoo’s agentic AI operating layer could democratize AI by offering a plug-and-play system that does not require coding or configuration.

Competitors include companies like Kustomer (now part of Meta) and Zendesk, but Webidoo positions itself as more proactive—agents act without waiting for a prompt. 'We’re building an AI that doesn’t just answer questions but asks them, and then acts on the answers,' said CTO Elena Rossi in a recent interview.

If successful, Webidoo could reshape how SMBs manage operations, lowering the barrier to intelligent automation. However, challenges remain: building trust among business owners wary of AI, and ensuring the system handles edge cases without human oversight. The $25 million gives Webidoo a runway of roughly 18 months to prove its model before seeking another round.

Analysts predict the agentic AI market for SMBs will grow to $6 billion by 2027. Webidoo’s early mover advantage, combined with its cross‑continental footprint, positions it to capture a significant share—provided it can scale reliably and address data privacy concerns, especially in regulated industries like healthcare and finance.

The next milestone will be the launch of Webidoo’s marketplace, where third-party developers can create specialized AI agents for specific business verticals. That rollout is slated for Q3 2025.
